IMHO, he may be "Mr. Nice Guy" now because he knows (or thinks) "the end" may be in sight (because of your discussion acknowledging the mutual unhappiness)...
But most of all -- please take good care of yourself, darlin'. I've been thinking of (and worrying about) you a lot the past few days.
